Accessibility Statement

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Signely is built to help people learn American Sign Language, so accessibility is not a side quest for us. We want the website and app to be usable by as many learners and families as possible.

Our Commitment

Signely is committed to improving the accessibility of our website, iOS app, lessons, games, subscription screens, and account settings. We are actively working to make Signely more usable for people who rely on assistive technologies, captions, keyboard navigation, screen readers, VoiceOver, reduced motion settings, high contrast, and zoom.

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We do not claim that every part of Signely is perfect today, but we do commit to listening, fixing issues, and improving the product over time.

Standard We Aim For

Our goal is to substantially conform with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, a widely used accessibility standard for web and app experiences. We also consider iOS accessibility best practices, including VoiceOver support, clear touch targets, readable contrast, reduced-motion preferences, and accessible labels for controls.

Signely has completed automated accessibility checks but has not yet completed an independent WCAG conformance evaluation or a full VoiceOver audit. This statement describes our current target and known work; it is not a certification of complete conformance.

Accessibility Features

Signely currently includes or is designed around several accessibility-friendly practices:

  • Readable page structure with headings on legal and informational pages.
  • Large touch targets for core app actions like lessons, games, tabs, and plan buttons.
  • Support for reduced-motion preferences for non-essential animations where implemented.
  • Text labels paired with icons on major navigation and settings controls.
  • Contact Support in Settings so users can report access issues from inside the app.
  • Written lesson instructions in addition to visual sign examples where possible.
  • Haptic feedback in the iOS app for selected learning actions and results.
  • A keyboard-accessible skip link, visible focus indicators, a semantic main landmark, and reduced-motion fallbacks.

Known Limitations

Because Signely teaches a visual language, some activities depend on visual sign demonstrations. We are working to make these experiences clearer and more accessible through written instructions, consistent layout, and better support for assistive technology.

Some third-party videos, ads, checkout flows, authentication prompts, Apple subscription screens, Google sign-in screens, and embedded services are provided by outside platforms. We cannot fully control those experiences, but we still want to know if they block your ability to use Signely so we can offer help or pursue a fix.

Known testing gaps include a full iOS VoiceOver pass, switch-control testing, 200% and 400% zoom checks across every lesson type, captions or equivalent text for every instructional video, and a manual WCAG 2.2 AA review. These items remain release checks rather than completed certifications.

Feedback & Support

If you have trouble using Signely because of an accessibility barrier, contact us and include the page, feature, device, browser or app version, and assistive technology you were using if you are comfortable sharing that.

Ongoing Work

We review accessibility as we add new lessons, games, subscriptions, ads, and account features. Planned improvements include more complete keyboard checks, stronger VoiceOver testing, better captions or text alternatives where available, clearer focus states, and continued testing on mobile devices.

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within a reasonable time and prioritize issues that block account access, learning, payments, or support.
